Hi guys, I've got a 1kz-te m/t with high k's. For the last 5 months we've been driving it from the UK to Singapore and we've made it to Pakistan so far. Haven't been shot or kidnapped yet which is nice.
Buuuut, for the last couple of months I've been stuck with diagnostic code 14. I've been going through the forums and manual, trying to sort it out but no luck. I've changed the main filter, cleaned the inline fuel pump filter, checked for correct voltage and function of the TCV.
Checked the voltage at the ECU terminal. Voltage was correct from the terminal, however the manual confused me. It seems to be saying also check the voltage from the back of the plug. I've tried this, and have gotten a lower reading than the manual says, but I'm unsure if I did what it was asking.
The symptoms have been pretty consistent. A constant lack of power (probably 30% loss), engine light coming on when engine is under pressure (high speeds or low speeds going uphill) and further loss of power when on. Once every couple of days, for a few seconds, it will puff out a lot of white smoke, without being under load at all. And in a few cases, I've felt the power fluctuate without me changing the throttle position.
I have no idea where to go from here. Anyone have any ideas? Connection between ECU and TCV? Bad injector? I've read of it being just an all round worn fuel pump, but the random white smoke and surging suggests something else to me. Help!
