Hi there,
I am new to this Forum, so I ques introductions will be in order.
My name is Henry and lives in South Africa. About 2 years ago I bought a 1992 Surf 2.4 TD, 2Lte, imported from the UK.
From the word go, I had issues, but expected this and was willing to spend some money to get the car running reliably. Her name is LOLA by the way (Dont ask)
Firstly, I had overheating problems and oil in the water system. After a lot of research and asking questions, I manage to isolate the problem being connected to the oil cooler leaking and causing oil to get into the water system. To my surprise, when we removed the oil cooler, we found that both the welsh plugs behind the cooler had tiny holes in them from corrosion. This was fixed. I fit a new oil cooler anyway, because I hastily bought one.
For a while she was running fine, then the overheating started again and a lot of pressure in the water system. I had to keep on replacing radiator hoses. Had the Head removed and send in for testing. They found very small hairline cracks on the head running between the valves. Fit a brand new complete head. After this, she was running like a dream.
Then, the turbo started to give problems, blowing oil past its seals. Replaced the core. Problem solved.
NOW, Injector pump.

One day I was driving home from work and she just cut out. Cranking but no fire. Diagnosed and found that no diesel was getting to the injectors. Isolated problem to the Spill valve. I found out that a spill valve cost about R8000 (800AUD). A buddy of mine has a 2nd hand pump coming off a 1KZ-te engine. I will part with it for R4000 (400ASD). These pumps look identical to the 2L-te pump, with the only external difference, a fuel temp sensor on the side of the 1KZ-te pump.
This is where my question comes in Are these pumps interchangeable and what could I expect if I fit the 1KZ-te (22100-67030) with in the place of the 2L-te (22100-5B300) pump.
Any thoughts on this will be appreciated.
