Hi all, I am in the middle of replacing a cylinder head on my sons Surf . I just compared the head gasket with the one I was supplied. The bore diameter is different as it appears I have been supplied a 3L gasket. Spoke to the supplier and reckons that 2L & 3L same same everyone uses the one gasket. I am reluctant and have ordered a LN85 non turbo original one to compare. The problem is that the gasket had been replaced prior to our ownership and dont know waht is the correct(factory) type needed.
Anyone been in this situation?

give me vin and model numbers and i will tell you the part number of the gaskets if you like to suit your engine...then you compare them with what you were supplied.

Can you assist with the ring part numbers as well? There seems to be a general consensus that the turbo and non turbo are the same, but I would not have thought so. Thanks your help.

part numbers as follows:

TO SUIT 3L
Head Gasket
marked F =11115-54073-FO
marked D=11115-54073-DO
marked B=11115-54073-BO

Rings
13011-54120 (STD)
13013-54120 (o/s 0.5)

TO SUIT 2LT
Head Gasket
marked F=11115-54082-FO
marked D=11115-54082-DO
marked B=11115-54082-BO

Rings
13011-54100 (STD)
13013-54100 (o/s 0.5)
13014-54100 (o/s 0.75)
13015-54100 (o/s 1.00)

Your surf is a 08/1989 4 door SSR manual with a 2LT engine

3L engines have a different bore size to a 2LT and this is why the part numbers differ.

Hope this helps you out

cheers :D

Kindly Note the following info on the gaskets as well;

The F, B, D letters denotes the gasket thickness, it is important thet you replace the gasket with the same letter, this can be identified by a tab that is exposed on the rear right or back of the gasket as I remember.

Then comes the blocked off water jacket issue. As I have seen only the Toyota gaskets for the 2L/3L engines sold in Oman has all channels open. If available in Australia, I have seen Federal-Mogul make an aftermarket gasket with all water channels open, with matching thicknesses. In any case and whichever gasket you use make sure that the blocked water channels are punched off at min dia of 10mm. I believe that you are aware of this issue and this is just a helpfull reminder. I know a FM agent in Malawi and have asked hime to send me the exact part nos for the 2L/3L/2LT-e gaskets. Shall add a reply when that arrives.

Good luck!
